Overview

PDF ThemeSort is a web‑based tool that uses Google’s Gemini API to analyze multiple PDF files with AI and automatically categorize them into common themes.
You can upload files via drag‑and‑drop and download them as a structured ZIP folder with a single click.


① How to Get Your Gemini API Key

This app uses Google’s Gemini API for AI‑powered content analysis.

🔑 Steps to Obtain Your API Key

  1. Visit Google AI Studio
  2. Sign in with your Google account
  3. Click “Show API Key” or “Create API Key”
  4. Copy the key starting with AIza…

💡 Note: Gemini API offers a free tier, but you may incur usage limits or fees depending on your usage.

② How to Use the App

1. Prepare Your PDF Files

  • Collect the PDFs you want to analyze (multiple files allowed)
  • Rename files with clear, descriptive names (e.g. Author - Year - Title.pdf)
    Use the PDF Auto‑Renamer Tool, which extracts DOIs and fetches metadata (author, title, year) from Crossref to automatically rename academic PDFs.
  • By default, the app processes up to 5 pages or 2000 characters from each file

2. Open the App in Your Browser

3. Enter Your Gemini API Key

  • Paste your key into the “Gemini API Key” input field

4. Upload Your PDF Files

  • Drag & drop your PDFs or click to select them
  • Uploaded file names will appear in a list

5. Choose a Processing Mode (Optional)

  • Fast Mode (default): Uses Gemini Flash for quicker processing
  • High‑Quality Mode: Uses Gemini Pro for higher‑precision analysis

6. Start the Analysis

  • Click the “Start Analysis” button
  • The app will extract text → analyze content via Gemini API → display categorized results

③ Understanding the Analysis Results

  • Results are shown as theme cards
  • Each theme includes:
  • 📝 Theme name with a short description
  • 📎 Labels indicating which PDF files belong to the theme
  • Click “Detailed Analysis” for deeper insights and key highlights

④ Organizing and Downloading PDFs (ZIP)

  1. Review the folder structure preview displayed in the results
  2. Click “Download ZIP File”
  3. A ZIP file is created containing your PDFs sorted by theme
  4. A README.txt file is included, summarizing each theme

⑤ Optional: Ask Questions About the PDFs

  • Enter a query in the “Additional Questions” field and click “Ask”
  • The Gemini API will answer based on the content of your uploaded PDFs

⚠ Notes & Disclaimers

  • PDFs are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to any server
  • Your Gemini API key is not logged or stored by any third party
  • API rate limits or errors may cause analysis failures
  • You are responsible for any charges resulting from excessive API usage
  • Accuracy may vary depending on PDF content, language, and formatting
